"The source of inspiration for my work is the material itself - it is only through playing with fine and sterling silver that I discover the possibilities for forms and shapes that can be created. By accepting and responding to the characteristics and behavior of the metal, I allow this material to direct my making process. During my playful practice, I discovered the benefits of folding, as a way to gain extreme strength and rigidity in fine and sterling silver. Folding has become a means to create structure, form, depth and three-dimensionality in my work."
Laura Jer, 2014

"Laura has been one of those delightful students who are absolutely dedicated to their studies and to the developing of their own practice. It was a rewarding experience to accompany her on her journey into an examination of the properties of soft metals and of how far these can be pushed around, literally. Conceptually sharp and with admirable stamina and fearlessness she undertook an investigation that truly had no anticipated outcomes. We applaud her for the intriguing results and her integrity as a young maker. Watch her! "
