Nik Hanton Whitireia Polytechnic'Milk and Honey'
In the series 'Milk and Honey' Nik Hanton re-purposes luxury items from the 1950s and in so doing generates one final act of respect for the materials, thereby saving them from obsolescence. In creating these works she acknowledges the culture of creative repair and re-doing that was emblematic of that time.

'Black to Black'
Sinkovich continues to refine her investigation into the perceived disconnect between humans and the environment in this recent body of work.
A gross versus subtle aspect is explored within the dark and brooding nature of these carefully orchestrated alike, but dissimilar materials.
The juxtaposition between the expected precision and value of traditional fine jewellery and untamed rawness of the natural specimens incorporated creates a tension while inviting the viewer to contemplate the nature of fluidity of the contrasting materials.

'Wearing the World'
"Since the completion of my Creative Arts Degree in 2015, I have been concentrating on the relationship between adornment, movement and motion. Through my investigation, of these kinaesthetic elements, I have discovered the malleable compromises that jewellery has on our bodies. It has the power to restrict our movements or cement our bodies down towards the earth. Further, it emphasises the necessity for our connectedness to others while restricting those needs. My work walks a fine line between adornment, attraction, rawness and un-wearability.
My chosen materials are concrete, pearls, and sterling silver. My chosen vehicles are earrings, chains, rings, and bracelets that are fashioned to function as wearable jewellery pieces. The more connections you make the greater the weight you carry.
