"Making jewellery in 2011 can seem shallow and superfluous when all around us seems to be turning to chaos via war, natural disasters, economic doom, famine, disease etc... My work for Zeitgeist Shrapnel started with the titles which initially came from my guilt at enjoying a career of making decorative trinkets when I could be doing something much more selfless and practical. But having made the work I'd rather believe the titles are less cynical and maybe jewellery really can save the world?"
